Voice Search: Optimising for How People Actually Talk
OCTOBER 10, 2025 | BY SMARTWEBIX TEAM | SEOVoice assistants on phones, cars and smart speakers, and conversational AI tools, have changed how people ask questions. Spoken queries tend to be longer and more natural: not “pizza Lahore” but “which pizza place near me is open now?”
What voice and conversational searches have in common
- They use full sentences and question words: who, what, where, when, why and how.
- They often have local intent: “near me”, “open now”.
- They expect a short, direct answer.
How to optimise
- Answer questions directly: use a clear question as a heading and answer in one or two plain sentences before adding detail.
- Write naturally: use the phrases your customers actually say.
- Create helpful FAQs: cover real customer questions on service and product pages.
- Keep local details accurate: address, hours, phone number and services on your Business Profile and website.
- Make pages fast and mobile-friendly: most voice queries happen on phones.
- Use structured data: help search engines understand your business information.
Do not over-focus on the format
There is no separate “voice search ranking”. Assistants generally draw on the same sources as regular search. The best strategy is to be the clearest, most reliable answer to a real question.
Listen to your customers
Emails, calls and chat logs are full of natural-language questions. Turn the most common ones into pages and sections.
