Using AI for Keyword Research and Content Briefs Responsibly
FEBRUARY 9, 2025 | BY SMARTWEBIX TEAM | AIAsking an AI assistant for “the best keywords” feels tempting, but language models do not have live search volumes. Use them for thinking and organising, and use real tools for numbers.
What AI is good at
- Brainstorming related topics and questions your customers might ask.
- Grouping large keyword lists into themes.
- Suggesting content outlines based on the intent behind a search.
- Summarising the common points in top-ranking pages, which you have collected yourself.
What it cannot do
It cannot reliably tell you search volume, difficulty or trends. Those come from tools such as Google Search Console, Keyword Planner and reputable SEO platforms. It can also invent statistics and sources.
A responsible workflow
- Gather real data: Search Console queries, competitor pages and keyword tool exports.
- Give the AI the raw list and ask it to group keywords by intent and propose page topics.
- Ask for an outline for each page, then edit it using your own expertise.
- Add what AI cannot: original examples, local knowledge and opinions.
- Verify every fact and figure before publishing.
What a good brief includes
Target audience, main keyword and intent, key questions to answer, suggested headings, internal links, and what unique value the page adds.
Use AI to move faster, but let people make the decisions.
